Nature Communications has published a comprehensive study on January 13, 2020 in which 10 international researchers present how artificial intelligence (AI) can influence achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The 17 SDGs summarise 169 concrete targets internationally agreed in the 2030 Agenda. The study systematically assesses both positive and negative impacts of the latest progress in AI with respect to these individual factors.
“We find that AI can enable the accomplishment of 134 targets across all the goals, but it may also inhibit 59 targets.”
